So I was reading Woman’s Day magazine and one article caught my eyes. 10 All Natural Chill Pills by Brynn Mannino. There were ones that I knew like lavender, chamomile and Valerian root. Ones I didn’t know, like sweet potatoes and peanut butter. Chocolate however, I always knew as my stress reliever but I didn’t realize that it was universal.
In
order to show my appreciation I thought we would have some of my favorite
chocolate recipes, Enjoy!
California Walnut Mocha Truffles
3/4 cup powdered sugar1/4 cup softened butter
6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate (6 squares)
2 Tsp. instant coffee granules
2 Tbsp. rum
1 cup coarsely chopped California walnuts, divided
Powdered sugar
Cocoa powder
Directions
- In small bowl, cream together sugar and butter; set aside. In top of double boiler, combine chocolate and coffee. Cook and stir over hot, not boiling water, until chocolate is melted and smooth.
- Remove from heat. Add slowly to butter mixture; stir in rum and 1/2 cup of the walnuts. Chill until slightly firm. Shape into small balls; roll in remaining walnuts and dust with icing sugar or cocoa powder.
- Place truffles in candy cups and store in covered container in refrigerator until just before serving. Truffles can be refrigerated for up to one week or frozen for up to three months.

Soft chewy chocolate Zebra cookies
Zebra Cookies
3.5 oz. Vegetable Oil14 oz. Sugar
10 oz. Flour, A.P
3.25 oz. Cocoa, sifted
8 oz. Eggs
.15 oz. Vanilla
.3 oz. Baking Powder
6 oz. Sugar, powdered and sifted.
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°
- Place all the ingredients except the powdered sugar in a bowl and with the paddle mix on medium speed for 2-3 minutes
- Use a 1 ounce scoop to make cookie balls.
- Roll cookie balls in powdered sugar and place on a paper-lined cookie sheet.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
